What are characteristic X-rays? How are they different from continuous X-rays? Give any one difference.

Characteristic X-ray: Radiation having definite wavelengths, which are characteristic of the material of the target forms the characteristic X-rays.

Difference: Continuous X-rays is independent of the material of the target and it depends upon the voltage, whereas characteristic X-rays depend only on the material of the target.
