Atom in its highest or lowest oxidation state does not disproportionate.

H2O2, Cu+, Cl2, ClO3-

H2O2 → O-1 can go to O2- and O2

Cu+  → Cu = +1 to +2 and 0

oCl2 → to Cl-1 and +1, +3, +5, +7

Cl+5O3- → Cl-1 and Cl+7
