The intensity of electric field at a point is defined as the electric force experienced by the test charge q0 placed at that point.

Mathematically, electric field strength is given by \(E = \frac {F}{q_0} = \frac {kq}{r^2}\)

Unit of electric field strength is Newton/Coulomb.
