अम्ल को तनुकृत करते समय यह अनुशंसित करते हैं कि अम्ल को जल में मिलाना चाहिए, न कि जल को अम्ल में जल को सांद्र अम्ल में मिलाने से वह तीव्र अभिक्रिया कर विस्फोट करते हैं। इसके कई दुष्परिणाम हो सकते हैं।
