The instantaneous current from an a.c. source is i = 0.5 sin 314 t. What is the

(i) r.m.s. value,

(ii) frequency of the current?

Given i = 0.5 sin 314 t

∴ i0 = 0.5 A and ω = 314t rad s-1

(i) irms\(\frac{i_0}{\sqrt 2}\)  = 0.707 x 0.5 = 0.35 A

(ii) ω = 2πv

∴ v = \(\frac{\omega }{2\pi} = \frac{314}{2\times3.14}\)  = 50 Hz
