कॉपर का औसत परमाणु द्रव्यमान 63.5 है। इसके दो समस्थानिक 63Cu तथा 65Cu है तो इन समस्थानिकों की % मात्रा की गणना कीजिए।

माना 63Cu समस्थानिक की प्रतिशत मात्रा = x

तो 65 Cu की प्रतिशत मात्रा = 100 - x

Cu का औसत परमाणु द्रव्यमान  = 

\( = \frac{(63x) + 65(100 - x)}{100}\)

\(63.5 = \frac{63x + 6500 - 65x}{100}\)

\(63.5 = \frac{6500 - 2x}{100}\)

6350 = 6500 - 2x

2x = 6500 - 6350

x = 150/2

= 75

अतः 63Cu की प्रतिशत मात्रा = 75%

तथा 65Cu की प्रतिशत मात्रा = 25%
