Since Raj was not paying attention in class, instead of multiplying M by \(\frac{2}{7}\),  he divided M by \(\frac{2}{7}\). Raj's value was \(1 \frac{13}{14}\) more than expected value of M. What is M?

(1) \(\frac{3}{5}\)

(2) \(\frac{6}{7}\)

(3) \(\frac{3}{4}\)

(4) \(\frac{4}{3}\)

Best answer

Correct option is: (1) \(\frac{3}{5}\)

From the question,

\(\frac{M}{\frac{2}{7}}- M \times \frac{2}{7} = 1 \frac{13}{14}\)

\(\frac{7M}{2} - \frac{2M}{7} = \frac{27}{14}\)

\(\frac{49M - 4M}{14} = \frac{27}{14}\)

\(45M=27\)

\(M = \frac{27}{45}\)

\(\therefore \ M = \frac{3}{5}\)
