Write differences between traditional agriculture and biotechnology agriculture.

Traditional Agriculture

1) Farming is done using old practices and traditional equipments also called traditional farming. Ploughing of fields using bullock or ox is an example.

2) Cultivation is done using traditional seeds.

3) Irrigation is done using old techniques. Hence groundwater level is not reduced.

4) Labour:- This type of farming is more labour intensive and generates more job opportunities for local people.

5) Productivity:- The production is low as traditional seeds and natural fertilizers are used.

6) Soil Fertility:- Soil Fertility is not hampered because of the use of natural fertilizers.

Modern Agriculture

1) Farming done using modern and technical methods is called Modern farming. Using of tractors to plough the field is an example.

2) Crops are cultivated using High-Yielding variety (HYV) seeds.

3) Irrigation is done using tube wells. Hence groundwater level gets gradually depleted.

4) Many types of crops can be cultivated from the same land area through multiple cropping.
