At a point in a strained material, the principal stresses are p1, p2 and p3 while principal strains are ε1ε2 and ε3, respectively. Show that principal stress p1 = 2G (Bεvε1) where G = shear modulus, B = v/1 - 2v and εv = volumetric strain.

Principal stresses are p1, p2 and p3 E and v are Young’s modulus and Poisson’s ratio respectivel
