One night king Shuddhodana saw very awful visions in his dream which made him very upset. He lost all peace of mind. The same night the Prince Siddhartha was restless. He was lost in thinking about the old age and its sufferings. The seven visions dreamt by king Shuddhodana are given below :

1. He saw a beautiful broad flag. The sun was shining on it. It was making it bright. A strong wind tore it. It threw the flag into dust. A group of shadowy persons came and took away the flag. They went towards the east.

2. Then the king saw ten huge elephants. They had long white tusks. When they walked, the earth moved. The Prince was sitting on the leading elephant. They came on the southern road.

3. Then he saw a chariot. The Prince was sitting in it. Four fearful horses were drawing it. White smoke came out of their nostrils and foam came out of their mouth.

4. Then he saw a moving wheel. It was bright gold. There were jewels on its spokes. Something was written on tyres. It produced sweet music.

5. Then he saw a drum. It was placed between the city and hills. The Prince was beating it with an iron rod. It produced loud sound like thunder.

6. Then he saw a tower reaching the clouds. The Prince stood on its top. He was scattering jewels in every direction. The people from the whole world came to collect them.

7. Lastly the king saw six men weeping. They had closed their mouths with their hands. They looked very sad.
