Why does it take sometimes to see the objects in dim light when you enter the room from bright sunlight outside?

In bright sunlight, the iris contracts the pupil to allow less light to enter the eye and in dim light, the iris expands the pupil to admit more light to see the object clearly. Therefore, it takes sometimes to increase the size of pupil in dim light.
