Choke coil: Choke coil is a coil having high inductance and negligible resistance. It is used to control current in AC circuit and is used in fluorescent tubes.
Obviously the power loss in a circuit containing choke coil is least.
lf R = Z (in purely resistaive circuit and LCR circuit at resonance), the power factor cos ϕ = Rlz = 1 and the power loss is maximum.Therefore, the use of resistance is avoided in AC circuits. For an ideal choke coil, resistance is zero and hence power factor is also zero.
