Correct option  (A) 4

|x|2 - 4|x| + 3 = 0

⇒ (x|-3|)(|x|-1) = 0

⇒ |x| = 1 or |x| = 3

⇒ x = ±1 or x = ± 3a

So, the number of solutions is 4.
