(i) Jane Austen's novel gives us a glimpse of the world of women in rural society in the early nineteenth century.

(iii) In the novel 'Pride and Prejudice', Jane Austen portrays the female characters as pre-occupied with marriage and money and states 'a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife'.
