Tertiary amine does not undergo acylation.why

  • Amines containing replaceable hydrogen atom react with acid chloride to form substituted amides. This reaction is called acylation reaction. 
  • In case of tertiary amines there is no replaceable H atom and therefore, these do not react with acid chloride and hence do not undergo acylation
