1. gram panchayat are formed on the basis of population
2. population between 5,000 & 7,000 from gram panchayat
3. the member of gram panchayat are elected by the adult population of panchayat area
4. one representative for 400 voters is elected
5. reservation is provided to schedule caste, schedule tribes, backward classes & women
6. gram panchayat meetings must be held at least once in two months
7. the panchayat development officer (PDO) is the executive head of gram panchayat.
