Why does benzene undergo electrophilic reactions easily and nucleophilic reactions with difficulty?

benzene has high electron density due to the presence of 3e-pairs above and below the plane of the ring representing the double bond. Due to rich source of electrons benzene attracts the electrophile reagents towards it and repels nucleophile reagents.
