1 – x = 2x2

2x2 + x – 1 = 0

Compare given equation with the general form of quadratic equation, which is ax2 + bx + c = 0

Here, a = 2, b = 1, c = –1

Discriminant formula: D = b2 – 4ac

= (1)2 – 4 x 2 x -1

= 9
