All that glitters is not gold: One must always be careful about deceptive appearances. Many things which appear to promise a lot are often disillusioning when we examine them closely. Although people say that the face is the index of the mind, we must remember never to judge a book by its cover. Many people who look innocent and honest often prove to be cunning and treacherous. So, we must learn not to be carried away by appearances. Never take anything at its face value. This does not mean that one should be always suspicious or sceptical. But, it is always wise to be on guard against false appearances.
