In fact, the very deeply-ingrained features of public debate and intellectual pluralism in the Indian tradition have shaped the character of Indian, and to an extent, oriental school of thought which has in turn produced the most ancient civilisation in the world. Be it the epic ‘Mahabharata’, where the contrasting arguments of Krishna and Arjuna create the most exhaustive discourse in human history; or the highly intellectual battles of thoughts and concepts between numerous interlocutors in the spiritual, political and religious realms – each one of these are jewels in philosophical endeavour, as well as in the practice of day-to-day human existence.
वास्तव में भारतीय परंपरा में गहन रूप से जड़ित सार्वजनिक तर्क-वितर्क एवं बौद्धिक विविधता की विशेषताओं ने भारतीय विचारधारा, व कुछ सीमा तक पूर्वी विचारधारा को आकार दिया है – जिसने विश्व की सबसे प्राचीन सभ्यता को जन्म दिया। चाहे वह महाकाव्य ‘महाभारत’ हो, जहाँ कृष्ण व अर्जुन के विरोधाभासी तर्क हों जो मानव इतिहास में सबसे विस्तृत व्याख्यान है; या फिर विचारों और मुद्दों का अनेक वार्ताकारों के मध्य आध्यात्मिक, राजनीतिक व धार्मिक क्षेत्रों में श्रेष्ठ बौद्धिक शास्त्रार्थ हों – प्रत्येक दार्शनिक प्रयत्न तथा मानव-जीवन की दैनिक आचरण-शैली का रत्न है।
