In the essay “On the Ignorance of the Learned” Hazlitt expresses his longing and passion for nature and the perceptual world while criticizing the learned. Hazlitt says that the perceptual world is the best book in itself. He further says that those who understand this nature and world rightly are learned in true sense. Hazlitt criticizes such scholars who spend their valuable life in reading and memorising so called theories written in thick books. Hazlitt advises us all to read the lively book present before us in the form of beautiful world.
