In the fields the crows were in council. They were discussing whether they had a right to the peas growing in the fields. It appeared that until this matter was decided, they were bent upon expressing their disapproval of the watchman’s vigilance by cowing vociferously. The parrots on the trees were debating whether men had any right to call them faithless when, amongst men, too, one’s own friends do not refrain at times deceiving one another.
खेतों में कौओं की सभा थी। वे चर्चा कर रहे थे कि उन्हें खेतों में मटर उगाने का अधिकार था या नहीं। ऐसा प्रकट हुआ कि जब तक इस मामले पर फैसला लिया जाता, वे काँव-काँव चिल्लाते हुए, चौकीदार की सतर्कता के प्रति अपनी असम्मति दर्शाने के लिए मुड़ गये। पेड़ों पर तोते बहस कर रहे थे कि क्या लोगों को उन्हें विश्वासघाती पुकारने का अधिकार था, जब लोग भी समय आने पर एक-दूसरे को धोखा देने से परहेज नहीं करते हैं।
