Petroleum deposits in Rajasthan are found in 12 blocks in Bikaner, Barmer, Jaisalmer and Ganganagar. Jaisalmer Block, Sanchor-Gudamalani Block, BikanerNagaur Block, and Bikaner- Ganganagar Block have deposits of petroleum. 91 oil wells have been dug by the MNC Cairn India in Gudamalani and Sanchaur Blocks. Out of them commercial production from 12 wells started in 2005.
