The equation 4NH3 + 5O2 → 4NO + 6H2O, represents the catalytic oxidation of ammonia. If 100 cm3 of ammonia is used calculate the volume of oxygen required to oxidise the ammonia completely.

If 4 volumes of NH3 reqires 5 vol. of O2

Then 100 cm2 NH3 requires = \(\frac{5}{4}\times100 \)

= 125 cmoxygen.
