The compound contains 3 carbons. The alkane with 3 carbons is “propane”. There is a –CHO group (aldehyde) in this compound. Hence the name would contain the suffix “- al”.

The IUPAC name would then be:

Propane – ‘e’ + ‘-al’ → Propanal
