Koderma – Gaya Hazaribagh belt of Jharkhand is the leading producer of mica in India. The British Geological Survey reported that as of 2005, this area also had the largest deposits of mica in the world. Mica is one of the indispensable minerals used in the electrical and electronic industries because of its excellent insulating properties and resistance to high voltage.
