Distinguish between mitochondria and chloroplast.

S.No. Mitochondria Chloroplast
(i) Mitochondria occur in all the eukaryotic cells. It does not trap energy. Chloroplasts are found in green cells which perform the function of photosynthesis. It traps energy
(ii) The inner membranes of mitochondria are folded into cristae. Cristae are absent.
(iii) Pigments are absent in mitochondria. Pigments are always present.
(iv) During biological oxidation, energy is released and stored in ATP molecules. ATP is formed in the presence sunlight by thylakoids.
(v) Thylakoids are absent. Thylakoids are present.
