(i) An unbiased die is thrown twice. Let A be event ‘odd number on the First throw’ and B be the event ‘odd number on the second throw’. Check the independence of A and B.

(ii) If P(A) = 0.8,P(B) = 0.5,P(B/A) = 0.4, Find

Best answer

(i) P(A) = \(\frac{18}{36},P(B) = \frac{18}{36}=\frac{1}{2}\)

P(A ∩ B) = 9/36 = 1/4

Clearly,

\(P(A)\times P(B) = \frac{1}{2}\times\frac{1}{2}\\=\frac{1}{4}=P(A∩B)\)

Hence independent events.

(ii)
