Answer is : (a) X = CH3Cl; Y = Anhydrous AlCl3; Z = HNO3 + H2SO4

For the given reaction,

When benzene reacts with CH3Cl in presence of anhyd.AlCl3, then toluene is formed. This reaction is known as Friedel-Craft’s reaction. The formed toluene then undergoes nitration to give 2-nitrotoluene.
