For the reaction,

\(3I^-_{(aq)} + S_2O^{2-}_{8(aq)}\) \(\longrightarrow I^-_{3(aq)} + 2SO^{2-}_{4(aq)}\)

3I-(aq) + S2O2-8(aq) → I-3(aq) + 2SO2-4(aq) 

Calculate 

(a) the rate of formation of \(I^-_3\)

(b) the rates of consumption of 1 and S2O and 

(c) the overall rate of reaction if the rate of formation of \(SO^{2-}_4\) is 0.O22 moles dm-3 sec-1.

3I-(aq) + S2O2-8(aq) → I-3(aq) + 2SO2-4(aq) 

\(\therefore\) (a) Rate of formation of \(I^-_3 = 0.011\) mol dm-3 s-1

(b) Rate of consumption of \(I^- = 0.033\) mol dm-3 s-1

(c) Rate of consumption of \(S_2O^{2-}_8 = 0.011\) mol dm-3 s-1 

(d) Overall rate of reaction = Rate of consumption of reactant = Rate of formation of product
