Iodoform reaction with sodium hypoiodite is used for the detection of `CH_(3)CO` group. Also compounds containing `CH_(3)CH(OH)` group shows positive iodoform test as it produces `CH_(3)CO` group on oxidation.
Since, among the compounds, `CH_(3)CH(OH)` group is given only in the substrate of option (a) hence, it is correct. The reaction of compound A with NaOI is given as follows :
`2NaOH+I_(2) to NaOI+NaI+H_(2)O`
