A game of chance consists of spinning an arrow which comes of rest pointing at one of the number 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6,7, 8 (see figure) and there are equally likely outcomes. What is the probability that it will point at : 

(i) 8? 

(ii) an odd number ? 

(iii) a number greater than 2 ? 

(iv) a number less than 9 ? 

(v) Which mathematical concept is used in the above problem ? 

(vi) What is its value ?

(i) Total number of points = 8 (i.e., 1., 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8)

.'. Total number of possible outcomes in which an arrow comes to rest pointing at one of the number = 8 

Number of favourable outcomes in which an arrow will point at 8 = 1

(v) Probability.

(vi) Equal distribution
