Calculate the degree of ionization of 0.05 M acetic acid if its pKα value is 4.74. How is the degree of dissociation affected when its solution is also (a) 0.01 M and (b) 0.1 M in hydrochloric acid?

Always calculate α first by Kb = cα2 , if  α > 5% then use again

Since presence of H+ will favour the severse reaction or α will decrease

i.e., 0.01 + cα = 0.01 and 1 - α = 1 (due to common ion effect)
