A solid rectangular prism is melted and recast into a square prism of height 18cm. If the length, breadth, and height of the rectangular prism are 15 cm, 10 cm and 27 cm. respectively, then 

(a) What is the volume of the square prism ? 

(b) What is the length of one base edge of the square prism ? 

(c) If the rectangular prism is melted and recast in to cubes of height 1 cm, the number of cubes will be ..........

Given : rectangular prism

Length = 15 cm

Breadth = 10 cm

Height = 27 cm

(a) Volume of rectangular prism = l x b x h

= 15 x 10 x 27

= 4050 cm3

Volume of square prism = Volume of rectangular prism

Volume of square prism = 4050 cm3

∴ Number of cubes = 4050
