A piezoelectric transducer (in the form of a rectangular slab) has voltage sensitivity of 0.012 V-m/N and permittivity of 125 × 10-10 F/m. The charge sensitivity of the transducer is
1. 150 pC/N
2. 75 pC/N
3. 9.6 × 10-7 C/N

Correct Answer - Option 1 : 150 pC/N

Concept:

Charge sensitivity of the transducer is given by

d = εg = ε0 εr g

where εr is relative permittivity

ε0 is absolute permittivity

ε is permittivity

g is voltage sensitivity

Calculation:

Given that, permittivity = 125 × 10-10 F/m

Voltage sensitivity = 0.012 V-m/N

Charge sensitivity = 0.012 × 125 × 10-10

= 150 pC/N
