Correct Answer - Option 3 : bottom-up approach

Process writing is a bottom-up approach, that is a work on one piece of writing which continues through a series of writing classes, through which the child will get a chance to review, and refine a piece of writing. In the process approach to writing, the emphasis is given to writing as a means of communicating information and ideas. To ensure continuity it is important to set aside some time every day for writing. In practical aspect in process writing, the procedures follow the bottom-up approach as follows:

  • Students generate idea
  • Students organize ideas by considering the purpose, audience, and genre of the text
  • Students make word choices, adding or deleting ideas by reviewing organization, grammar, logic
  • Students verify the information
  • Students share ideas with a real audience
  • Designing and publishing a final draft.

Vertical approach

It refers to the process in which the information is displayed from top to bottom. This approach values the in-depth writing.

Horizontal approach

It concentrates on the number words while writing.

Top-down approach

It concentrates on the meaning of the texts rather than the grammatical structures and individual words.

Hence, we conclude that the Process writing approach could be described as a bottom-up approach.
