Molecular wt. of CH4 is 16 gm
Molecular wt. of CO2 is 44 gm
When CH4 reacts with O2, leads to formation of CO2 and H2O. The reaction involved is:
\(C{H_4} + 2{O_2}\;\mathop \to \limits^{{\rm{\;\Delta }}\;} C{O_2} + 2{H_2}O\)
1 mole of CH4 gets completely oxidized and formed 1 mole of CO2
⇒ 16 gm of CH4 → formation of 44 gm CO2
1 gm of CH4 → formation of \(\left( {\frac{{44}}{{16}}} \right)gm\;C{O_2}\)
1000 gm of CH4 → formation of \(\frac{{44}}{{16}} \times 1000 = 2750\;C{O_2}\)
∴ CO2 formed is 2.75 kg
