Directions: There are two statements marked as Assertion (A) and Reason (R). Read both the statements carefully and choose the correct option

Assertion (A): There are always gaps left in between two rails of railway tracks.

Reason (R): Rails of railway tracks expand and contrast due to the pressure difference.

1. Both A and R are true and R is the correct explanation of A.
2. Both A and R are true but R is not the correct explanation of A.

Correct Answer - Option 3 : A is true but R is false.

Always during the design of railway tracks there are gaps left in between two rails for the tracks to expand and contract due to the temperature changes. If that gap is not left then the tracks might have enormous stress in them while expanding due to heat. Which can damage them. So, our assertion is true but its reason is not correct as it is due to temperature changes instead of the pressure difference.
