Best answer
Correct Answer - Option 4 : is decreased by 1%

Given:

Increment in length = 10%

Decrement in breadth = 10%

Formula used:

Using AB rule

Percentage change = (A + B + AB/100)%

Where A and B are successive percentage changes

Calculation:

A = 10% and B = -10%

Put the values in the formula

Percentage change = [10 – 10 + 10 (-10)/100]%

Percentage change = -1%

∴ The area of the new rectangle is decreased by 1%
