According to the given question, we need to find the day of the 14^th of the given month.

Statement 1: The last day of the month is a Wednesday.

If the last day is Wednesday we are not able to find a day on the 14^th of that month because we don't know whether the month is of 28 days or 29 days or 30 days or 31 days.

Therefore, Statement-1 alone is not sufficient to answer the question.

Statement 2: The third Saturday of the month was the 17^th day.

If the 17^th day of the given month is Saturday then we can easily find the 14^th day by subtracting 3 odd days from Saturday i.e., (6 - 3) = 3. means Wednesday.

Therefore, Statement-2 alone is sufficient to answer the question.

 Here we use odd days as Sunday = 0 , Monday = 1, Tuesday = 2, Wednesday = 3, Thursday = 4, Friday = 5, and Saturday = 6.
