Correct Answer - Option 1 : 331

The correct answer is 331.

  • Article 331:
    • Article 331 of the Constitution provides for the nomination of two Anglo-Indians to the House of the people by the President when in his opinion the community is not adequately represented in the House.
    • The idea of such nominations is traced to Frank Anthony, who headed the All India Anglo-Indian Association.
    • Article 331 was added to the Constitution following his suggestion to Jawaharlal Nehru.
    • Parliament passed the Constitution (126th Amendment) Bill, extending reservation for SC/STs but doing away with the provision for the nomination of Anglo Indians to Lok Sabha and some state Assemblies.
    • The Anglo-Indian community in India traces its origins to an official policy of the British East India Company to encourage marriages of its officers with local women.
    • The term Anglo-Indian first appeared in the Government of India Act, 1935.

  • Article 121:
    • It deals with the restriction on the discussion in Parliament No discussions shall take place in Parliament with respect to the conduct of any Judge of the Supreme Court or of a High Court in the discharge of his duties except upon a motion for presenting an address to the President praying for the removal of the Judge as hereinafter provided.
  • Article 139:
    • It deals with the conferment on the Supreme Court of powers to issue certain writs Parliament may by law confer on the Supreme Court power to issue directions, orders, or writs, including writs in the nature of habeas corpus, mandamus, prohibition, quo warranto, and certiorari, or any of them, for any purposes other than those mentioned in clause ( 2) of Article 32.
  • Article 221:
    • It deals with the  Salaries etc, of Judges.
    • There shall be paid to the Judges of each High Court such salaries as may be determined by Parliament by law and, until provision in that behalf is so made, such salaries as are specified in the Second Schedule.
    • Every Judge shall be entitled to such allowances and to such rights in respect of leave of absence and pension as may from time to time be determined by or under law made by Parliament and, until so determined, to such allowances and rights as are specified in the Second Schedule: Provided that neither the allowances of a Judge nor his rights in respect of leave of absence shall be varied to his disadvantage after his appointment.
