Gauged mortar: It is a mixture of cement, lime, sand, and water. The process of adding cement to lime mortar to improve its quality is termed gauging and mortar thus prepared is known as gauged mortar.

Gauged mortar is also known as lime-cement mortar.

Lightweight mortar: It is the type of mortar that is prepared by mixing sawdust, rice husk, jute fibers, coirs, asbestos fibers, etc. along with sand and lime or cement.

Note:

The advantages of lime-cement mortar are increased water retentivity, workability, and bonding properties.

It should be used within 2 hours after the addition of cement. This mortar gives a good plaster finish and is used in buildings.
