Correct Answer - Option 4 : The march began after the failure of the First Round Table Conference in London

The correct answer is The march began after the failure of the First Round Table Conference in London.

  • The First Round table conference happened from November 1930 to January 1931, while dandi march happened prior to this.
  • Dandi March lasted from 12 March 1930 to 6th April 1930 as a direct action against the campaign of tax resistance and non-violent protest against British salt monopoly. Hence option 4 is incorrect.

  • A large number of women participated in large the Civil Disobedience Movement which was called by Gandhiji. They participated in protest marches, manufactured salt, and picked foreign cloth and liquor shops.
  • Leaders like Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay, Sarojini Naidu, and Perin Captain (Dadabhai Naoroji’s granddaughter) played a vital role in stabilizing women's role in Dandi March.
  • Gandhi’s iconic Dandi March in 1930 was a watershed moment in directing the western media spotlight on India. The event became a launchpad for sustained, popular American media focus on India and on Gandhi in particular.
