In figure a current of 1A flows through the circuit, when p.d. recorded at the ends of parallel resistors is 1volt. Calculate the value of R and r.

For parallel resistors

1 = 1.5/1 + r

∴  1 + r = 1.5

r = 1.5 - 1 = 0.5
