Correct Answer - Option 2 : 20,000

Given:

70% of voters cast their votes

But 1% of the votes invalid

8,316 votes is 60% of the valid votes

Calculation:

Let the total number of votes enrolled be X

Then, Number of votes cast = 70% of X

Now, valid votes = 99% of (70% of X)

So, number of votes the winning candidate got = 60% of [99% of (70% of X)]

⇒ 8,316 = (60/100)× (99/100)× (70/100)× X

⇒ X = 20,000

∴ Total number of votes enrolled in that election is 20,000
