Correct Answer - Option 4 : Mesosphere

The correct answer is Mesosphere.

  • The mesosphere is the coldest atmospheric layer.
  • The Mesosphere is located between 50 and 80  kilometers (approx.) above Earth's surface.
  • The average temperature of the mesosphere is about minus 85 degrees Celsius.

  • The thermosphere is the hottest atmospheric layer.
  • The troposphere is the lowest layer of Earth's atmosphere.
  • The ionosphere is a very active part of the atmosphere, and it grows and shrinks depending on the energy it absorbs from the Sun
  • The column of the atmosphere is divided into five different layers depending upon the temperature condition.
  • They are the troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere, and exosphere.
  • The troposphere is the lowermost layer of the atmosphere. Its average height is 13 km and extends roughly to a height of 8 km near the poles and about 18 km at the equator.
  • The zone separating the troposphere from the stratosphere is known as the tropopause.
  • The stratosphere is found above the tropopause and extends up to a height of 50 km.
  • It contains the ozone layer.
  • The ionosphere is located between 80 and 400 km above the mesopause.
  • This is the highest layer but very little is known about it.
