Correct Answer - Option 3 : 320

Given:

A number is increased by 37.5%

Calculation:

37.5% = 37.5/100 = 3/8

We take original number = 8x,

Thus, if increased by 37.5%, number becomes 8x + (3/8) × 8x = 11x

Also, given new number = 440

⇒ 11x = 440

⇒ x = 40

Original number = 8x = 8 × 40 = 320

∴ Original number is 320
