Correct Answer - Option 4 : 62

Given:

The data is 29, 32, 48, 50, x, (x + 2), 72, 78, 84, 90 and median is 63.

Concept Used:

The median is the central number of a data set.

Formula Used:

If the total number of observations given is odd, then the formula to calculate the median is:

Median = {(n+1)/2}th term, where n is the number of observations

If the total number of observation is even, then the median formula is:

Median = [(n/2)th term + {(n/2)+1}th]/2

Calculation:

29, 32, 48, 50, x, (x + 2), 72, 78, 84, 90

Total number of data is 10.

Median = [x + (x + 2)]/2

63 = (2x + 2)/2

⇒ 126 = 2x + 2

⇒ 2x = 124

⇒ x = 124/2 = 62

∴ The value of x is 62.
