The Rajdhani superfast train and Passenger train are moving at the speed of 90 km/hr and 54 km/hr towards each other. They will meet after 20 minutes. Find the distance between them. (in meters)

Correct Answer - Option 1 : 48000 m

Given : 

Speed of Rajdhani train = 90 km/hr 

Speed of Passenger train = 54 km/hr 

Formula Used : 

Distance = Relative speed × time 

Note: relative speed = speed of the Rajdhani + speed of passenger train (in opposite direction)

Calculation: 

x km/hr = 5/18 × x m/s 

1 minute = 60 sec 

Speed of Rajdhani train = 5/18 × 90 = 25 m/s 

Speed of Passenger train = 5/18 × 54 = 15 m/s 

Time will meet = 20 x 60 = 1200sec

Distance = (25 + 15) × (1200) 

Distance = 40 x 1200 = 48000 m 

Distance between them = 48000 m
