Correct Answer - Option 5 : x = y or the relationship between x and y cannot be established.

Calculation:

I. x2 + 2x –15 = 0

⇒ x2 + 5x –3x –15 = 0

⇒ x × (x + 5) –3 × (x + 5) = 0

⇒ (x – 3) × (x + 5) = 0

⇒ x = 3 and x = –5

II. y2 + 9y + 20 = 0

⇒ y2 + 5y + 4y + 20 = 0

⇒ y × (y + 5) + 4 × (y + 5) = 0

⇒ (y + 4) × (y + 5) = 0

⇒ y = –4 and y = –5
